MAHAL-RITZEL FUNERAL HOME, INC.
Established in 1955 as the Joseph P. Mahal Funeral Home. They merged with the Thomas R. Ritzel Funeral Home in 1983 whose business was started by his father Christian R. Ritzel in the early 1900s.
A 1947 graduate of Minersville High School and a 1953 graduate of Eckel's School of Mortuary Science of Philadelphia. Served his community as an actively licensed funeral director to day of his passing. Received the Minersville Citizen of the Year Award in 2010 for his decades of service to the community.
A 4th generation funeral director preceded by his father Joseph P Mahal Jr., maternal grandfather Harold R Hahn and maternal great grandfather J. George Hahn. A 1974 graduate of Minersville Area High School, 1976 graduate of Pennsylvania State University earning an Associates Degree in Letter, Arts and Sciences. A 1981 graduate of Simmons School of Mortuary Science where he received the Certificate of Merit in Dera Surgery and Restorative Art. Certified in 1985 in Sterile Eye Enucleation with the Dept. of Ophthalmology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.
