Walter J. “Gator” Sponhouse, Jr., 68, of Schuylkill Haven, passed away Thursday, August 22nd, at LVHN Cedar Crest, . Gator was born in Pottsville, Pa. on July 21, 1956, a son of the late Loretta (McNulty) and Walter J Sponhouse, Sr. He was a Carpet Installer by trade. He was a member of the North Ward Social Club as well as the Rainbow Hose Co., both of Schuylkill Haven. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sally Ann Yeager and a brother Michael Guzick. Gator is survived by his partner of 38 years, Kathleen (Brennan) Staller, a daughter, Sarah Staller and her companion, Chrissy Gonzalez. He is also survived by three sisters, Irene, wife of Sterling Santee, Loretta, wife of Michael Skoufalos , and Kathleen, widow of Thomas "Dinker" Adamchick, and a a step brother, Vince Kane. Also survived by nieces and nephews. All Services are private at the convenience of family. Mahal-Ritzel Funeral Home Inc., Minersville entrusted with the arrangements.
