Ronald H. (Skip) Schafer, 85, of Seltzer, passed away Monday, November 24th, at Green Valley Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Skip was born in Pottsville, on July 8, 1940, a son of the late Mary (Schultz) and Harold Schafer.
He was the widower of Elaine E. (Wythe) Schafer.
He served in the U.S. Marines and was a member of the Marine Corp League Coal Cracker Detachment .
He worked for Botts Auto Parts for more than 50 years and then was an owner of Minersville Auto Parts until his retirement in 2019.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Elaine, he was preceded in death by brothers, Carl, Robert, David, and Melvin Schafer, and his sisters, Rita Ruscavage, Lois Pangonis and Jean Motley.
Skip is survived by a daughter, Atty. Lori A., wife of James Guzick, two sons Ronald T., husband of Terri Schafer, and Scott, husband of Jenny Schafer Ronald is also survived by a brother, Bruce Schafer He is also survived by Grandchildren, Valerie Schertzer, Stephanie Smith, Sherrie Schafer, Jake, Lea, John, and Jillian Guzick, Shayne and Dawson Schafer, Great Grandson Skip Schafer, his "favorite" sister-in-law Anna "Chut" Schafer, and his care-giver, Beth Burkevage.
All are respectfully invited to attend a Visitation 9:00:00 to 10:30:00 on Monday, December 1st at Mahal-Ritzel Funeral Home Inc. Minersville.
A Funeral Service will follow at 10:30.
