Paul Joseph Greis Sr.

July 17, 2021

Obituary

Paul J. Greis Sr.89, of Minersville. Minersville lost a beloved member of our community on July 17, 2021, when lifelong resident Paul Joseph Greis passed away in Well Span Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon, alongside his son Paul. Paul was born October 30, 1931 to Daniel and Katherine Shields Greis of Kaska. He was the third of five children; Daniel, George, John and Joseph. Paul graduated from Blythe Township in 1950. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy. Paul was employed for 50 years with the International Brotherhood of Electric Workers. He married his first love of his life Joan Mickey in 1955, and together they raised four strong and successful boys; Paul Jr wife Jacqueline, Gregory wife Angelika, Gary partner Cathy and Scott wife Kimberly. Paul was also a devout member of Holy Family Parish of Minersville. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, his beautiful wife and all four of his brothers. In addition to the ”4 Greis Boys” Paul is survived by his partner of over 25 years, second love Loraine Malatesta. He will be deeply missed by his cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren, with whom he kept an active pulse on. He spent his days phoning them frequently, attending the many activities they were engaged in from sports to ballet- preschool to college graduations, or motivating them to strive for the Honor Roll with a little cash because he instilled in each that a good education can never be taken away. Paul’s legacy will live on not only through his sons but through his other loves Lauren husband Jeffrey Tobin, Jason Greis, Kingsley husband Stephen Schwartz, Elizabeth husband Mark Lapszynski, Brandon Greis, Lilley Greis and his great grandchildren Kash, Kenzie, Kruz, Mason and Scotty. Paul always had a warm smile and a friendly word for everyone. Our spry and charming Patriarch could easily be found on the golf course (which we would be remiss not to note: he did have a hole in one that even made the paper!), on a walk to church, watching the Yankees or the Giants, conversing at Palermo’s, cruising around town with a license plate that read “SWEET-ZE”, or dressed to the nines with Loraine by his side. The greatest impact he made was on his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Paul, will be eternally remembered for the “Sweetsie” that he was and the smiles he brought to the faces of those he treasured most, his beautiful family. A visitation will be held Tuesday, July 27, 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Mahal-Ritzel Funeral Home Inc, Minersville. A religious funeral service will follow Wednesday morning 11:00 am at the funeral home with the Reverend Jason F. Stokes officiating. Interment with Naval Honors Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Mahal-Ritzel Funeral Home Inc, Minersville entrusted with the arrangements.
