Michael A. Stoppie, 63, of Woodside Rd., Cass twp., passed away suddenly, Saturday, January 30th, at his home. Michael was born in Pottsville, Pa. on June 19, 1957, a son of the late Martha (Bonchack) and Michael Stoppie. He was the husband of Bonnie A. (See) Stoppie. He was a member of Saint Michael the Archangel Church of the Holy Family Parish of Minersville. He was a 1975 graduate of Minersville Area High School. He was employed as a Supervisor for the UGI Natural Gas Co. Mike was a wonderful husband and father. He was kind and soft spoken and had a wit like no other. His grandson Ryan called him “Pap” ….and they were inseparable. His favorite activity and interest was baseball. In his earlier years, he played men’s softball and his love of baseball led him into coaching. He coached his son Michael throughout Little League and Teener League. As Michael moved on to high school, Mike remained the Minersville Teener League coach for several years. The kids he coached absolutely adored him. Mike also enjoyed bowling and bowled in many different leagues. Mike is survived by a son, Michael, husband of Karen Stoppie. A step-daughter, Kelsie Fiscus and a step-son, Wesley Fiscus. Mike is also survived by four sisters, Sharon Uscilowicz, Rhonda Stoppie, Charlotte, wife of Tom Horn and Michele Marks. A brother, William, husband of Marcia Stoppie. He is also survived by Grandson, Ryan Daubert., Nieces & nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Michael the Archangel Church of the Holy Family Parish of Minersville with Reverend Jason F. Stokes officiating. All are respectfully to attend a visitation Friday with calling hours from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Mahal-Ritzel Funeral Home Inc., Minersville. Due to COVID-19, all recommended social distancing, mask requirements, and public safety guidelines will be strictly followed. Interment Mount Peace Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to a Diabetes fund of your choosing. Mahal-Ritzel Funeral Home Inc., Minersville entrusted with the arrangements.
