Melanie Radzievich Obituary

Melanie Ann Radzievich, 78, of Pottsville passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, September 3, at her home.

Born May 13, 1948, Melanie was the only child of the late Charles and Melanie Moyer of Tamaqua.

Melanie graduated from Tamaqua High School in 1966 and completed Medical Secretarial Studies at Goldey–Beacom College (Delaware) in 1968. She later completed Paralegal Studies at Pennsylvania State University–Schuylkill Haven.

She worked for more than two decades for Schuylkill County, serving in the offices of mapping and assessment.

Retirement gave Melanie more time for the role she treasured most -- Nana. She happily kept her grandchildren, Robby and Riley, for days at a time when they were home -- sick from school -- or needed a vacation from their parents. Melanie was a devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law and grandmother. Kind and thoughtful, Melanie maintained friendships that lasted a lifetime. A passionate animal-lover, Melanie also cared for her beloved collies most of her adult life.

Melanie and Pete, who were married for 55 years, shared a love of family and passion for following politics and the Phillies, both of which regularly tested Melanie’s patience.

She is survived by her husband, Peter J. Radzievich, Pottsville; a son, Peter J. Radzievich Jr., Pottsville; a daughter, Nicole A. Mertz, and her husband, Robert A. Mertz, Hellertown; two grandchildren, Robby and Riley Mertz; and many cousins.
