Mary Prokop, R.N. aged 92 years of Llewellyn Road, Branch twp., passed away unexpectedly at Lehigh Valley East, Pottsville. Born in Primrose she was the daughter of the late Harry and Mary (Holubowski) Olenick. After graduating from Cass Township High School Mary attended the Pottsville School of Nursing where she received her Registered Nursing Degree. Mary also received her Certification as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse. Mary worked at Children’s Hospital in Philadelphia and at Hamburg State Hospital where she retired after 35 years as a Registered Nursing Administrative Supervisor. Mary was preceded in death by her husband Joseph in 2009 after 58 years of marriage. Brother’s John, Stephen, Peter, Michael, Nicholas and Paul Olenick; sister’s Anna Hesse, Helen Price, Olga MacCready and Dorothy Walkusky. Mary was the last surviving sibling of the Olenick family. Mary is survived by her children Joseph Prokop, Allentown, Luann Prokop, Llewellyn, Jeffrey (Fran) Prokop, South Carolina; Laurie (Richard) Bell, South Carolina and Chanda (Randy) Tower of Pottsville; 11 Grandchildren and 13 Great Grandchildren. All Funeral Services are private and held at the convenience of the family. Interment St. George Ukrainian Orthodox Cemetery. Mahal-Ritzel Funeral Home Inc., Minersville entrusted with the arrangements.
