The redhead community has lost one of their own. Margaret T. "Marge" Minchoff went home to be with the Lord on April 29, 2021.
The Earth received her Nov. 11, 1953, in Pottsville, when she became the feisty daughter of the late George "Mick" Micklo Sr. and Margaret "Madge" (Hedges) Micklo. She grew up in the Minersville/Llewellyn area and attended Minersville schools.
Marge worked as an LPN at Laurel Nursing Home, Hamburg, for 24 years. Taking care of others was one of her undeniable passions in life. An animal lover, she loved her dogs, having adopted many over the years, and derived pleasure from watching songbirds that would flit to her feeders.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mark R. Minchoff, in 2020, and a brother, George "Giggi" Micklo Jr., in 2018.
She is survived by two sons, Christopher Tice and wife, Mary (Angelo), Virginia, and Mark Minchoff and companion, Tamara Gajic, Philadelphia. She is also survived by two brothers, Wayne Micklo and wife, Bonnie, Mar Lin, and Leonard Micklo and companion, Norma, Minersville. She leaves behind two nieces, Joy Wilson and companion, Mike Rizzardi Sr., Minersville, and Bobbi Brandstatter, wife to Marvin, Hamburg; three great-nieces; five great-nephews; her two loving Jack Russell terriers, Wes and Maggie (already adopted). We would be remiss not to mention her best friend, Edith "Edie" Scharsch-Cromis, who was her other half for over 36 years.
The family will accept visitors from 1 p.m. until the service at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 16, at River Church, 106 N. Sixth St., Pottsville. Private viewing for immediate family begins at 12:30 p.m.. In accordance with COVID-19 guidelines, all recommended social distancing, mask requirements, and public safety guidelines will be followed. Daughter, sister, mother, mother-in-law, niece, friend … we will miss you, Marge. Our lives now hold a blank space until we meet again. Mahal-Ritzel Funeral Home Inc., Minersville, is entrusted with arrangements.
