John Franklin Zimmerman, 62, of Minersville, passed away Saturday, June 13, 2026, at his home.
Born in Pottsville on October 19, 1963, he was the son of the late Willis and Donna Zimmerman, and a grandson of the late Roy and June Zimmerman and Hilda Brown.
He was a 1982 graduate of Pine Grove Area High School.
John served 29 years and 9 months in the U.S. Army and the PA National Guard, attaining the rank of Sergeant. He was deployed to combat operations twice in Iraq and also served in Germany. His decorated military career stands as a testament to his courage and dedication to his country. Following his military service, John continued to serve his community as a firefighter and Fire Police officer with the Goodwill Fire Co. of Minersville, as well as an EMT with Engine 52-11 Station for 10 years. “This is your last call. We will take it from here.”
He is survived by two daughters, Jessica Zimmerman and Julia Larkin, and her husband, Peter; two brothers, Jay Zimmerman and his wife, Lisa, and Matthew Zimmerman, a sister, Holly Zimmerman, his girlfriend of 6 years, Kathy Sensenig. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Brandon and Kyleigh Larkin; aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his faithful dog, Snoopy.
All are respectfully invited to attend a Visitation, Thursday, June 25th from 9 to 11 am.
A religious service will follow at 11:00.
Interment with military honors Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
