Helen V. Platko, On March 19, 2022 Helen Platko fell asleep in the Lord at the age of 91, at the Schuykill Center, Pottsville.
She was born September 2, 1930 in Duncott, one of 13 children of the late Peter and Maria (Volosin) Verbosh. Helen was the wife of the late Paul Platko.
Helen was a lifelong member of Ss. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church in Minersville. She was a member of the Sodality of the Blessed Virgin Mary. She earned her Academy of Friendship Degree at the Pottsville Women of the Moose. Helen loved spending time in the kitchen making delicious food like perogies, halupki’s, haluski and city chicken. She was an avid Bingo player and most of all, she loved her family.
In addition to her parents, Helen was Predeceased by her Husband Paul; Infant Daughter Mary; Son Paul; Brothers – Peter, George, Michael, John, Joseph, Andrew; Sisters – Mary Verbosh, Anna Gavaletz, Veronica Sekellick, Julia Ryan
She is survived by her children -Sandra Rickert, husband David – Reading; Laura Mitchell, husband Stephen – Pottsville; Michele Trumbower, husband David – Sellersville; Cheryl Martinozzi, husband Rocco – Birdsboro: Peter Platko, wife Joan – Colmar; 22 Grandchildren, 22 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great-Great Grandchildren: Sisters – Bertha Petrisko, and Irene Dallago: Numerous nieces, nephews.
A Visitation will be held Wednesday, with calling hours from 8:00 to 9:30 am at the Mahal-Ritzel Funeral Home Inc., Minersville, followed by the Office of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Ss. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church with the Very Reverend Gregory J. Noga celebrant.
Interment Parish Cemetery.
