George "Pete" Rodnick Jr.

George “Pete” Rodnick Jr., 84, formerly of Minersville, passed away Sunday, August 16, at Green Valley Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Pete was born in Pottsville, Pa., on November 8, 1941, son of the late Josephine (Gawrys) and George Rodnick.

He was the widower of Carol (Angelo) Rodnick.

He was a graduate of Minersville High School, after which he served our nation in the United States Army on active duty from 1960 to 1962.

He was an iconic face in Minersville as the owner of the Wynn-Ann Restaurant for several decades, making meals for loyal patrons. He could be seen cooking breakfasts and bantering with the customers at the counter.   The restaurant was known for Thursday spaghetti dinners and fish and macaroni and cheese on Fridays. He was a pillar of the community who shall be dearly missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Carol, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Eades.

Pete is survived by his brother, Joseph Rodnick, four daughters, Josephine Sipes (Ron Savitsky)  Wynnell Weiss, Lenore Stine (Thomas Stine),  Susann Visalli; and a son, John Weiss.

He is also survived by his grandchildren, Joseph, Gina, Erica, Elyssa, Jonathan, Jessica, Paige, and Benjamin; and his great-grandchildren, Ryla, Callie, Krew, and Kinsley.

All services are private.

Interment with military honors will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
