George N. Hertz, 78, of Schuylkill Haven, passed away Saturday, November 27th, at Allied Services Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center , Scranton.
George was born in Glen Dower, on November 2, 1943, a son of the late Anna (Polk) and Andrew Hertz.
He was the husband of Janice (Eckelmann) Hertz. He was a graduate of Cass Township High School. A member of Saint Ambrose Church, Schuylkill Haven.
George served in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War. He was a Machine operator at EXXON Chemical and Tredegar Film Products. He was a member of American Legion Post #38 and was formerly a proficient dart shooter.
George was an avid sportsman enjoying all aspects of the great outdoors. He was a loving husband, father, & grandfather.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Brothers, Emil, James, & Michael Hertz. Sisters, Maryann Muscara & Gloria Walasavage.
George is survived by his wife, Janice, two sons, Eric, husband of Karen Hertz, and Andrew, husband of Jill Hertz. Two daughters, Jessica, wife of Steven Glenny, and Jennifer, wife of Brian Schumacher,
He is also survived by two sisters, Arlene Reiff, and Betty Mae Hertz. Four brothers, Andrew Hertz, John, husband of Joanne Hertz, Paul, husband of Frances Hertz, Thomas, husband of Marie Hertz
George is also survived by his Grandchildren, Zachary, Derek, Caroline, Andrew, and Julia Hertz. Nieces and nephews.
A Religious Funeral Service will be held 10:00 am Monday, at the Mahal-Ritzel Funeral Home, Minersville, with a calling hour from 9:00 am until the time of service. Interment with military honors Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations made to the Ruth Steinert Memorial S.P.C.A. 18 Wertz Dr, Pine Grove, PA 17963.
