Gary Kochubka Obituary

Gary P. Kochubka, 63, formerly of Black Heath, passed away unexpectedly on March 9, 2026.

Born and raised in the area, Gary was a 1980 graduate of Minersville Area High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting & Business, Cum Laude, from DeSales University and a Master of Business Administration in International Business from Baruch College (CUNY).

Gary enjoyed a distinguished career with Standard & Poor’s Rating Service, McGraw Hill Financial, where he advanced to Managing Director & Risk Officer, Global Risk Management. His professional role enabled him to travel extensively around the world.

An avid traveler in his personal life as well, Gary visited every continent except Antarctica. A generous philanthropist, Gary supported numerous charitable causes.

Photography was his great passion; he was an active member of the Lehigh Valley Photography Club and exhibited his work in the Annual FOCUS Juried Exhibition at the Allentown Art Museum. He particularly enjoyed night sky photography, including capturing the beauty of the Milky Way, and participated in group trips to refine his skills.

Gary touched the lives of everyone he met with his warmth, respect, and kindness. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He was predeceased by his parents, Anna and Max Kochubka, and his sister, Jane Kochubka.

Gary is survived by his brother, Robert Kochubka (husband of Rosemary); sisters Patricia Kost, Teresa Kochubka, and Anne Groth (wife of Chris); nephew Jeffrey (husband of Janel); niece Elizabeth (wife of David Berdow); great-nieces Paige, Samantha, Riley, Rowan, and Ellie; and great-nephews Christopher and Phoenix.

A Visitation will be held Wednesday , April 15th from 9:00 to 10:30 am at the Mahal-Ritzel Funeral Home Inc., a Funeral Service will follow at 10:30 am at the funeral home with the Reverend Mark Fesniak officiant. 

Interment Parish Cemetery.
