Frederick Joseph “Pap” Horan, 85, passed away surrounded by family on Wednesday August 28th. Born in Pottsville, he was the son of the late Mary E. (McGovern) Horan. Pap was known and beloved by all. He was a perfect example of consistent loyalty, dedication, a tireless work ethic, and selflessness to all who knew him. He was a dedicated employee of Exxon/Tredegar in Marlin for 32 years. Pap was a family man through and through. Even taking on a more fatherly role as the patriarch for his Mother Mary and siblings Gene and Thomasine. He was married to the love of his life Georgine (Dolbin) Horan for 29 years until her sudden passing in November of 1989. He has and always will be an amazing father to his only son Frederick. Outside of being a family man Pap was most known for being an avid Philadelphia sports fan. He lived and died every pitch, every possession, and every basket of his beloved Philly teams. The thunder you may hear in the future may not be from storms but from Pap slamming his foot in heaven in disgust. Fred was preceded in death by his wife Georgine, his mother Mary Horan, nephew Jim Horan and niece Marianne Horan. He is survived by his son, Fred Horan (spouse, Michelle), Friedensburg, brother Gene Horan (spouse, Barbara) Olney, MD and sister Thomasine Jefferson (spouse, Bill), Schuylkill Haven; three grandchildren, Brandon Horan (spouse, Lucia), Cassidy Horan (spouse, Jordan) and Stephanie Pozza (spouse, Chris); 3 nieces, Sharon, Colleen and Debbie; 1 nephew, Michael.
