Obituary

Elizabeth Jane Chapman, of Minersville was called to heaven on June 10, 2022 at the age of 91. She was born in Heckscherville, May 15, 1931 a daughter to the late Harold Brennan and Loretta (Holohan) Brennan. The Matriarch of the Family, she was a devoted Mother of four, Grandmother of 11, and Great grandmother of 15. Elizabeth (Jane) spent her early years working as a seamstress and dedicating the rest of her time to being with her children and her grandchildren. She was a devoted lover of God and member of the Irish Catholic Church. She graduated from Pottsville Catholic High School in 1948. Elizabeth met her husband, Kelly Melvin Chapman at the Globe Dance in Minersville, PA and they fell in love and married in 1951. Even though she was widowed at the early age of 45, she loved him fiercely and made the decision to never marry again. You would often hear her saying that Kelly was “the Best Man in the United States” and she would be happy to one day meet him again. She poured her heart and soul into her children and grandchildren. Elizabeth Jane taught them to be strong and brave, to never give up hope, to stick together, and to trust in God and the power of prayer. In her spare time, she loved watching the Phillies games and Wheel of Fortune, attending Bingo, galivanting around with her grandchildren, visiting the Grotto at St. Kieran’s, saying the rosary and praying for all those in need. Elizabeth was a fiery, strong Irish woman with a heart of gold. Her eyes continued to sparkle with such kindness up until her last breath. Elizabeth was the epitome of love. She lived a life of humility, integrity, charity, kindness. She was and is a beautiful soul that touched the hearts of many. Elizabeth is survived by her son Kelly Chapman, son Daniel Chapman and partner Vicki Steigerwalt, son Richard Chapman and his wife Patrice Chapman, her caretaker and Daughter, Karen Chapman and dear lifelong friend of the family and caretaker, Bridget Mabry, her grandchildren: Kelly Chapman, Kim Schneider, Daniel Chapman, Carissa Motuk, Brian Chapman, Rachael Bosack, Regina Chapman, Rebecca Chapman, and Richard Chapman, all their significant others and fifteen Great Grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Kathleen Frantz and Brother-in-law, Robert Frantz, Nephew Rob Frantz and Family, and Nieces, Lora McDonald and Family and Dianne Kelley and family. She is preceded by her parents Loretta and Harold, her sister Ann and brothers, Danny and Jimmy, Daughter in law, Linda Chapman and her Grandon, Mitchell Chapman. All are respectfully invited to attend a visitation to celebrate Jane’s life on Wednesday at the Mahal-Ritzel Funeral Home Inc., Minersville, with calling hours from 8:30 to 10:00 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, 10:30 am at St. Michael the Archangel Church of the Holy Family Parish of Minersville . Interment Saint Kieran #2 Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of Elizabeth Jane Chapman to The Purple Ribbon Epilepsy Project or The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
