Arthur "The Ccone" Yannaccone, 76, of Sterling, Kansas, passed away Jan. 12, 2022, at Hospice House of Hutchinson, Kansas.
He was born Dec. 29, 1945, in Pottsville, the son of Antonio Arthur and Mary Candelore Yannaccone.
Arthur graduated from Minersville High School with the Class of 1963. He has resided in Sterling since 1977, formerly of Minersville. Arthur worked as a barber and a roughneck for Sterling Drilling. He served in the Navy from 1963 until 1966 during the Vietnam War. Arthur was a stagehand and member of the local IATSE. He enjoyed good food, animals, loved sports and was a diehard Philadelphia Eagles fan. Arthur was an avid jogger and credits himself for starting the jogging craze. He also loved music and going to concerts "back in the day" with any number of friends old and young. You could find him hanging out in his barber shop on Sunbury Street with his dog, Plato, entertaining customers in between an occasional haircut. He was a "one of a kind," an unforgettable character to all who knew him.
On March 31, 1978, Arthur was united in marriage with Barbara Cola in Lyons, Kansas. She survives the home.
Arthur was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Rita Lynch.
He is also survived by his two children, Mario Yannaccone and Sarah Yannaccone, both of Sterling.
A funeral service was held Jan. 19, 2022, in Sterling. Memorials may be given to Hospice House or the Sterling Public Library in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling.
